Addressing HT, Simhastha Mela officer and Ujjain civil magistrate Avinash Lavania said that 990 homeguards and 11,00 prepared swimmers — every one of them volunteers — will be sent along the Kshipra stream in Ujjain amid the occasion. Five groups of specialists had prepared around 200 swimmers from 12 regions of the state at Ujjain's Triveni Ghat as of late, he said.
